Councilmember Omari Ferguson removed his slope of trees and shrubs without a permit. Why is he being allowed to write the tree laws when he is breaking the tree laws? This creates a huge conflict of interest.
Here is his level of situational awareness:
"I can't see the difference by the tree canopy when I'm in South Pasadena versus Pasadena."
Pasadena and South Pasadena both have historically significant protections, hence the continuity. Councilmember Ferguson demonstrates that he does not have this basic understanding of how our tree ordinance compares to our neighboring city's tree ordinance years into his spearheading an update to our tree ordinance.
"How much quantitatively has our urban canopy changed since we've implemented this?"
Ferguson said we don't have the facts and we don't have the data. They have the data and they are hiding it from us. We must see the data.
We need an Urban Forestry Plan.
